Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ

by Vanita

I have seen someone baptize saying "I baptize you in Jesus' name rather than say specifically Jesus Christ. Doesn't Christ have to be said in the baptism? In Acts 2:36, Peter said "Let all the house of Israel know that God hath made him both Lord and Christ". Then in Acts 2:38 gives the instructions to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. I would not think that "Jesus' name" could be used interchangeably with "Jesus Christ". I could not find the words "Jesus' name" in the Bible when I did a search.

Thank you.

All baptisms should be done like Peter described in the first sermon preached in the dispensation of the church age, on the day of Pentecost:

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38).
