I started physical exercise at 7 years of age, playing hockey, and I have been exercising since then. I am now 72 years old and the stairs you see in the picture are my favorite form of exercise these days. Does it do me any good? Of course, it helps me age gracefully.
But will it get me to heaven? Of course not! It is Spiritual exercise that will get me to heaven. Without prayer, reading and studying the Bible, praise, and worship, and going to church when the doors are open, I will never make it to heaven.
How would I have ever been born again (John 3:3), born of water and Spirit (John 3:5) by obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Cor 15:1-4) by obeying Acts 2:38 (repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins), and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost) if I had only had done physical exercise and not Spiritual exercise?
How would I live and lead a repentant lifestyle if I only did physical exercise today, and not Spiritual exercise? Of course, I wouldn't. I would be backslidden and not experiencing godliness that Paul wrote about in 1 Timothy 4:8).
I thank Jesus Christ for His mercy and grace upon my life that I exercise Spiritually every day of my life.
